This discovery led to a way to make that word personal.
This knowledge radically changed my commitment to daily Bible reading. This year will be the fourth year I have read the entire Bible using a few simple ideas as motivation. I have observed this same information motivate others to seek God with renewed passion as well.
I discovered how to:
- Make Bible reading personal
- Listen to what God is saying to me
- Let God know I am listening
- Memorize life transforming verses
- Saturate my mind with God's Word
- Move truth from my head to my heart
- Understand why many Christians are twelve inches from victory
"There is a God we want and a God who is. They are not the same God" says author Patrick Morley. Now, with a few simple ideas, you can begin to seek the God who is and let Him empower you daily with new understanding by reading How To Listen To God: Reading Your Bible With Purpose.
You will be energized by allowing God to transform your heart and mind each day through personalizing His Word.
Here are a few tips:
Approach His Word each day like entering five rooms in a house:
- READ His Word everyday underlining what impresses you.
- REVIEW what you have underlined.
- FOCUS on one verse each day.
- MEDITATE on that verse all day long. Ponder. Picture. Pray.
- MEMORIZE the verse by repeating reference-verse-reference thirty times.
The God of the universe wants to speak truth into your life every day. There is no excuse for not spending time each day listening to Him. When you pray back His Word to Him he knows you are listening.
